Ethics
How we decide what to publish.
Conflicts of interest
Where a writer has a personal, financial, or professional stake in a story, we disclose it inside the piece itself. Where a profile subject has a relationship with Meridian or with one of our contributors, we identify the relationship clearly. We do not run pieces without disclosure when disclosure is owed.
Sources
We distinguish between named and anonymous sources. We do not quote anonymous sources without independent context that supports the claim, and we explain to readers, in plain language, why a source has been granted anonymity when one has.
AI use
We use AI tools to organize research notes, compare public documents, check language, and support production workflows. Every published piece is reviewed and signed off by a contributing writer. See Our methodology on the About page for the full disclosure.
Advertising
Advertising on Meridian is clearly labeled and is sold through programmatic platforms. Advertisers have no editorial influence on what we publish or how we cover any subject. We do not accept paid placements presented as editorial.
